Why is publication required in New York?
New York LLC Law §206 requires every LLC to publish a notice of formation in two newspapers — one daily, one weekly — for six consecutive weeks within 120 days of formation. Miss the deadline and the Department of State can suspend your authority to conduct business in the state. Most national filing services do not mention this requirement.
How long does the full process take?
Articles of Organization typically file within 1–2 weeks. Publication runs concurrently for 6 weeks, followed by Certificate of Publication filing. Most clients are fully launched in 4–8 weeks total — faster than running formation and publication as separate vendors.
